Important Information About Procedures For Opening a New Account and Member Identification Requirements

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal Law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. (Section 326 of the USA Patriot Act)

What this means for you: When you open an account, we will obtain a credit report on you, ask your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We will ask to see an unexpired government issued picture identification card (driver's license, ID, passport) or other identifying documents.

In some cases, identification will be requested for current members if original documentation was not obtained with the opening of the account. In all cases, protection of our members' identity and confidentiality is our pledge to you.

We will copy items used in verifying your identity. Information contained within these documents will not be shared or disclosed to non-affiliated parties as written in our Privacy Policy.

At SAFE Federal Credit Union, we understand that you expect member information to be treated in an appropriate and confidential manner. As a result, we have adopted the following privacy principles to affirm our continuing commitment to the proper use of member information:

We recognize that our members expect us to collect and use member information in an appropriate and responsible fashion.
We collect, retain and use information about our members when we believe that it is necessary or useful in order for us to operate our business and in order to make available products, services and other opportunities that we believe may be of interest to our members.
We strive to ensure that the information we maintain about our members is accurate, current and complete. We have also established procedures to respond to requests to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner.
Employee access to personally identifiable member information is limited to those with a business reason to know such information. Our employees are trained to understand the importance of confidentiality and privacy of member information, and we take appropriate disciplinary measures to enforce employee compliance with our procedures with respect to the privacy of member information, as set forth in our Employee Code of Conduct.
We maintain security standards and procedures regarding unauthorized access to member information.
We do not share member information with unaffiliated companies except to operate our business, comply with applicable laws and regulations, protect against fraud or make available products, services or other opportunities that we believe may be of interest to our members.
If we contract with an unaffiliated company to perform specific services for us which may require us to provide them access to member information, we require that such contracting companies maintain the confidentiality of member information.
SAFE Federal Credit Union does not collect or share any information from children accessing this site. We maintain security standards and procedures regarding unauthorized access to member information, regardless of member's age. If at any point in time we should collect information from children under the age of 18, verifiable parental consent will be required.
