HEARTLAND DATA BREACH

posted: Monday, March 09, 2009

Heartland LogoIn late January Heartland Payment Processing Company announced their company was the victim of a security breach. This breach involved debit and credit card transactions occurring from May 13, 2008 thru November 14, 2008. In the interest of protecting our members from potential fraud, we will block and reissue new cards to affected debit and credit cardholders.  Affected cardholders have and will continue to receive notification by mail. As this breach is believed to have impacted approximately 100 million cardholders, our normal timeframes for receiving replacement cards may be delayed. We are working diligently to get all cards affected replaced as quickly as possible.

Information on this alert is limited; therefore, Heartland has created a website - www.2008breach.com - to provide information about this incident and advises cardholders to examine their monthly statements closely and report any suspicious activity to their card issuers. Should you have questions regarding your account, feel free to call us toll free at 1-800-763-8600 or 1-803-469-8600.
